Blog News: Twestival 2011 – Party Time!

17 March 2011 2 Comments

Big news, everyone: there’s going to be a party.

Little history: a couple weeks ago, the Charrette joined up with the League of Extraordinary Media. It’s a group of local blogs and podcasts that are work together in an effort to bring attention to Edmonton’s local new media scene.

Next week, we’re joining up with the other LGM members – the edmontonian, The Unknown Studio, True Britl and User-Created Content – to host the 2011 Twestival here in Edmonton.

In short, Twestival is an international thing, with local events held in cities all over the world. Social media-using folks meet and give money to programs that encourage early childhood education.

This year, the Edmonton Twestival is raising funds for the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation, which runs early-intervention programs with vulnerable citizens.

So come on down for Twestival. It’s down at the Red Star Pub (10534 Jasper Ave) on Thursday, March 24th at 6:00pm. There will be drinks and door prizes. Not to mention some awesome items up for silent auction. Here’s a taste:

- Two tickets to singer-songwriter Salif Keita on March 31 at the Winspear

- Coffee prize packs from Elm Cafe and Transcend.

- An Edmonton Rush tickets package.

That’s just a sample. There are more than another dozen other great silent auction items, all donated from some great local businesses and people

You can get your tickets here. They’re $10 a shot. And remember, 100% of the money from tickets and the silent auction goes to the EPS Foundation.

For the past few months, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know our awesome readers in the comments and on Twitter. Now we’re looking forward to meeting you in person.

If for some reason you can’t make it, you can donate to the Foundation here.
